Approximately 25% of the food that KLF distributes to hungry people in our community comes through individual and group food donations.
Food donations come in all shapes and sizes. There are small one day events and large month long collections that require additional organization and help from the KLF Warehouse staff.
Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes can oftentimes procure food at a much lower cost than the average consumer - about six cents per pound. Also consider donating funds to help us purchase the important nutritional foods we guarantee through our programs.
The KLF Warehouse is located at 901 Portage St. in Kalamazoo and accepts donations from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Our food donation door is located off of Jackson Street. Please pull your car up and then ring the bell and someone will assist you.
1. KLF accepts non-perishable food donations (canned goods and boxed products), as well as non-food items like baby formula. Click here for the "food drive wish list" to view monthly and seasonal food items we're in need of.
2. If you have perishable items for donations, such as turkeys or hams at holiday time, please contact the KLF Warehouse Director, Marvin King, in advance at (269) 488-2617 ext. 224.
3. KLF also accepts fresh produce from your home garden, local grocery store or market, or farm. Please call our warehouse ahead of time to schedule a delivery or pick-up as these are time-sensitive food items.
