Ongoing Volunteer Needs

Pantry Volunteer
Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes is currently looking for long-term, weekly volunteers and volunteer groups to assist in our Grocery Pantry Program, during the morning and afternoon.

Special Events Volunteer
Help Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes raise awareness about our organization and our cause! Special events volunteers are trusted to attend events as a KLF representative, answer questions about our programs, handle monetary and food donations, help with publicity planning, and more.

Call Center Volunteer
Volunteers needed to answer phones and register clients for appointments with our Grocery Pantry Program. Shifts are three hours in the morning beginning at 9 am. Training is provided.

Receptionist
Are you a friendly person with a warm smile? We are looking for receptionists to welcome our guests when they arrive at our Portage Street facility. An initial, weekly commitment of two months is preferred.

Warehouse Greeter Warehouse greeters are stationed at the warehouse door and are responsible for greeting visitors and donors, weighing and recording food donations among various other tasks. The warehouse greeter position requires one set four-hour shift each week.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Clean Room: Work with a group ranging from 3 – 7 persons weighing and repacking bulk products.
Gleaner: Drive to local partners picking up donations and transporting them in your personal vehicle back to KLF.
Picker: Fulfill food orders to be delivered to distribution sites. This requires lifting, bending, stooping and other physical activities.
Second Saturday: This opportunity is available the second Saturday of every month from 9:00am – Noon. Volunteers must RSVP with the Volunteer Coordinator to indicate what dates they would like to volunteer.
Warehouse Driver: Assist warehouse in food pickups and deliveries; must have valid driver’s license, good driving record, and no health conditions that would prevent DOT certification. Bending, stooping, and lifting required.
